Notes:

  • Educated at Julliard.
  • Conducted at age 20.
  • First worked on radio with Orsen Welles, scoring "War of the Worlds".
  • He also worked with Welles on Citizen Kane.
  • He also scored nine films for Alfred Hitchcock, including Psycho.
  • He scored music for the TV shows "Gunsmoke" and "The Twilight Zone"
  • He won an Academy Award his first year scoring films (Devil and Daniel Webster).
